The installation Anastilosi is the result of the project developed during the workshop / residency Coefficiente H held in October 2013 and curated by Elena Magini. The aim of the work was the reconstruction of a small portion of the historic furnace inside the Tenuta di Sticciano by revisiting the restoration technique Anastylosis, precisely, that consists in the recomposition of buildings, or parts thereof, by means of the reintegration of elements belonging to the structure, based on surveys and studies and architectural historians. A key element of the whole project was the brick and its different processing steps that have permission the union of territory with workers and residents: the clay quarry adjacent to the furnace provided the necessary ground for the very first phase of the project namely the construction of brick which was attended by the children of the Cultural Association Fiano; furnace suggested the installation support that was carried out with the guys from the Art School of Florence following a survey on site; the local potters have allowed the firing of bricks through a furnace built for the occasion. The bricks products were subsequently mounted on a wooden frame which fits on that existing but not corrode, thus allowing the reversibility of the project which can be removed in any time. So research, relief and development have merged into an installation by reading the territory applied ancient and ‘intrinsic’ processing practices of local workers.
